Optimizing Your Blog For The Search Engines

Nass ZaharyBy Nass ZaharyFebruary 7, 201111 Comments3 Mins Read

Whether you want to go through it or not, optimizing your blog for the search engines is an essential thing to do – in case you want to run a successful blog. Ignoring this element means that you are giving chance for other blogs and websites to sink your blog down to the bottom of search pages.

Let’s see some ways of optimizing your blog for the search engines.

    Research the Keywords

In fact visitors search through search engines based on keywords so it is important for you to know the high-potential keywords for your blog. Use these high potential keywords to create the contents for your blog. You can use Google AdWords Keyword Tool for this step.

Determine major and minor keywords for your blog. Use the main keyword for your title and your content title. Then optimize the minor keywords throughout your content. However keep in mind not to put too much same keywords in your content.

    Using Right Permalink Structure

The default permalinks for WordPress are not search engine friendly. Make simple change by inserting %postname% instead of the default option (e.g. p=125) which is the default option when you install WordPress. This step will create URL based on your content title and optimize the keywords that you use in the content title.

Install All in One SEO Plugin

This is a plugin that you should have where it allows you to specify  title, description, and the keywords to optimize your blog for the search engines. It can help you to bring your content and blog to the top of the search engines. However if you are using Thesis theme, you can ignore this one as SEO function has been integrated with the theme.

    Install Related Posts Plugin

Search engines loves contents which are interlinked between each other. The plugin will helps you to display posts which are similar to current post. Highly recommended!

    Ping Your Blog!

This is the most important thing that you have to do every time you update your blog. I have discussed how important for every webmaster to do this ping activity here. Ping helps to notify the search engines that your blog has been updated thus makes it faster for your blog to be there in the search pages. Don’t forget this step!

    WRAP UP

I guess the steps above are not too hard to be done however they are very important for your blog as search engines are the places for your blog struggling to get the best place as much as it could. Happy blogging!

It might take a lot of time to understand keywords. But I’m pretty sure if you use suitable words and phrases for any of your content, that will be a good and strong element for your site.

Blogging is how everyone should start off. I started off blogging and making simple change, but then once you get into other realms of the net like network marketing, and affiliate marketing you really start to use your skills from blogging to succeed in those areas.

I agree with you. The more visible you are to the Search Engine (MR. G) the more buck you will come on your pockets! Who’s agree with me?

Although sometimes the visibility is not the guarantee for money or income – but I’m quite agree with what you said! 🙂
