    Upgrading WordPress – Should I?

Nass ZaharyBy Nass ZaharyDecember 20, 20097 Comments2 Mins Read

Recently WordPress had released the latest version of WordPress that is WordPress 2.9 “Carmen”. The version named in honor of magical jazz vocalist Carmen McRae. This is a major upgrade and comes with new features such as:

    • Trash Bin where you can restore the deleted posts or pages
    • Built-in image editor
    • Easier video integration
    • Etc.

And the usual question is – should I upgrade my WordPress version?

I read a lot of opinions regarding to this matter. Some people say yes and the other say no. Some people choose to stick with the older version for several reasons such as (as they say) faster to load, easier interface and etc. Some people had faced difficulty and somewhat trauma when upgrading WordPress such as failure or missing the database while upgrading the WordPress especially when upgrading the version manually (Note: The other way is by using WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin or upgrade automatically from CPanel if you have any)

Technology is being developed from day to day and same goes to WordPress version where newer version got more user-friendly interface and functions. Some people might facing difficulty in the previous days while upgrading WordPress. Yes, upgrading sometimes gives you difficulty because it involves changing thousand lines of codes but today the upgrading process is easier than before where you can just upgrade in one click.

So I guess there’s no reason anymore not to upgrade your WordPress version but it’s OK if you want to stick with older one. However you should consider this point as older version might opened to security problems and could easily being hacked or harmed.

I’d upgraded my WordPress to the latest version and eagerly waiting for the next version this spring!

I just use WordPress Version 2.9. It has some additional functions that make job become easier. I like it when I don’t have to wait for the page to reload after clicking an accomplish button as it just loading on the same page. (the sign of reload is just beside the button) I like that function. πŸ™‚

I upgraded to 2.9 as soon as it was available. I had no problem.

2.9 version does seem to have very considerable changes. I am waiting for the version 3 when they merge WordPress and WPMU.

I too upgraded, and as of yet I haven’t encountered any problems. All the plugins work fine, the UI is pretty much the same (other than some tiny changes), and generally it just seems the same!

Also, I love the theme here! πŸ™‚
